Numana is the town of the Caretta Caretta sea turtles
For years, Numana has been committed to the protection and rehabilitation of sea turtles, in collaboration with the Fondazione Cetacea of Riccione. The Caretta Caretta turtles rescued and treated by the Foundation, once fully recovered and ready to return to their natural habitat, are released into the waters of the Conero Riviera.
In collaboration with the Fondazione Cetacea of Riccione and the “Traghettatori della Riviera del Conero”, as part of the European project IPA AdriaticNetCet, sea releases of rescued and rehabilitated Caretta Caretta turtles are organized along the Adriatic coast.
Starting from the end of June, several release events take place at Due Sorelle beach, departing from the tourist port of Numana. These are always emotional and meaningful moments that help raise awareness among residents and visitors about the importance of protecting the marine environment and biodiversity.
